Made-to-measure curtains: your questions answered
How much do made-to-measure curtains cost in London?
Our bespoke curtains start from £900 per window and typically come to £2,000 to £3,000 per window including the track and fitting. Most of our projects come in between £2,000 and £25,000, and a typical multi-room project is around £6,500. Every figure on our pricing page comes from a real project we designed, made and fitted, and you receive an itemised estimate before anything is made.
Do you come to my home to measure?
Yes. Every project starts with a design visit at your home, anywhere in London or Surrey. We measure each window ourselves, so you never need to measure or work out fabric quantities. If you are curious about the method, our guide to measuring for curtains and blinds explains how we do it.
Which heading styles can I choose?
Nine, from pencil pleat and double or triple pinch pleat to goblet, cartridge, wave and eyelet. The heading changes the fullness, the way the curtain stacks back and the hardware it needs, so we help you choose one that suits the fabric, the window and the look you are after.
Can made-to-measure curtains be blackout or thermal?
Yes, and the lining does the work. A blackout lining blocks the light whatever the face fabric, and a thermal or interlined curtain keeps a draughty room warmer. For genuine blackout in a bedroom we pair blackout-lined curtains with a corded track and a covered lath or pelmet, so no light escapes over the top.
Do you supply and fit the track or pole?
Yes. Hardware is part of every job. We specify the track, pole, covered lath or pelmet that suits the window, including bent tracks for bays and corded or motorised systems, and our fitters install it, hang the curtains and dress them.
Can you make curtains for a bay or an awkward window?
Yes, and they are some of our favourite projects. Curved and bay windows are measured and templated individually, then fitted with bent tracks, shaped pelmets and hand-finished returns. On a recent Notting Hill house every window on the front elevation was curved, so each one was templated and given made-to-measure double poles for its sheer and lined curtains.
Which areas do you cover?
London and Surrey, with local pages for Barnes, Battersea, Belgravia, Chelsea, Chiswick, Clapham, Fulham, Hampstead, Islington, Kensington, Kew, Notting Hill, Wandsworth, West London and Surrey. We also take on projects further afield; recent work includes the Cotswolds, Windsor and a country house in Nottinghamshire.
