Every piece is designed for your windows and handmade for your home, so a handful of choices shape the final figure. We are happy to be open about all of them:
Fabric is usually the single biggest element of any quotation. The same Roman blind can more than double in price on fabric choice alone, moving from a £28 per metre cotton to a designer linen at four or five times that. Being on a budget does not mean compromising on a beautiful result. It means making smart decisions, and a good designer helps you make them:

One word of caution: we never recommend saving money on lining. A good lining protects the fabric and makes curtains hang beautifully, so saving there is a false economy.

A fair question, and let us say it plainly: there is a time and a place for an online blind. A simple window, a rental, a room you will change soon. But it is worth being honest about what the lower price hands back to you.
With an online order, you are responsible for the final cut. Before you click buy, ask yourself:
One slip, where 205cm somehow becomes 250cm, and the fabric has already been cut.
Online, you choose from a limited range, ordering samples a few at a time and posting them back. A consultation brings the boutique fabric houses to your own home: collections you cannot access online, compared side by side in your own light, against your own walls.

We are in the bespoke tier by design, priced a little above its middle, and we are not really in the same market as the high street at all. Nor will we chase the couture end, where we think prices stop being about the work.
However good the in-store advisor, they are not standing in your home. They cannot see the radiator under the window, the return on the bay, or the bookcase that means one curtain will never draw back fully. Katherine spots those things because she is in the room, and they are the difference between curtains that fit and curtains that transform. It is a completely different process, not a slightly better one.

Bespoke curtains are not a fast purchase. Made well, lined well and fitted well, they last for decades, which changes the arithmetic of the price. The clearest proof we can offer: we recently restored a set of heritage curtains at a 23-room country hall that had hung for thirty years. Often, yes, once fabric, making, track and fitting are included, and our project table above shows real examples rather than a vague range. But our projects have also started from a few hundred pounds for a single blind. The honest answer for your windows takes one conversation.
Online is cheaper because you take on the measuring, the decisions and the fitting, and the making is by machine. For straightforward windows that can work well. For period homes, bay windows and the rooms you care about most, accurate measuring, boutique fabric access and a proper finish usually pay for themselves in a result you will love for years.
