Bold, Beautiful, Bespoke Curtains in Notting Hill
With no two windows the same—and each one curved—installing bespoke curtains in Notting Hill presented many exciting challenges.
With no two windows the same—and each one curved—installing bespoke curtains in Notting Hill presented many exciting challenges.
It was a dream come true for us to work alongside the talented design team at Bizaan, who are renowned for creating exquisite, luxurious, and sophisticated homes for discerning clients who want the very best craftsmanship and the highest attention to detail.
Not only did we work closely with the founder, Amie McDonald of Bizaan, but soon we were chatting regularly with the builders as this project for curtains in Notting Hill developed.
We were brought in by the founder, Amie McDonald, to deliver the soft furnishings package for the entire house, which included luxurious handmade curtains, blinds, shutters, banquette seating and upholstery for the decadent home cinema.
Our first job was to survey the windows and work through the intricacies of the hardware. The front elevation windows are curved, so we meticulously measured and templated them and sourced beautiful made-to-measure double curtain poles for sheer and lined curtains.
Each window had its quirks, so we needed different tailor-made brackets and fittings for the perfect fit. The master bedroom curtains were on motorised wave tracks, and we worked hard on the design of these to ensure the best blackout.
We worked with Amie’s design brief and colour palette to source fabric and trimming ideas and samples for the Bizaan team to choose from. We sourced fabrics and trimmings from top-end fabric houses, including Holland & Sherry, Chase Erwin, Mark Alexander, Lizzo, Romo Black and Samuel & Sons.
As most of the windows were very large we used neutral fabrics with bold braids and trimmings to create the drama. On the smaller windows we switched it up and used bold patterns to create surprises and a change of tempo. These blinds and curtains in Notting Hill needed to reflect not only the character of the owner but the eclectic energy of the area.
We measured, made, and installed all the Notting Hill curtains and blinds by hand, paying careful attention to every detail.
As the curtains in Notting Hill project progressed, we also helped source fabrics for the beautiful bespoke furniture that Bizaan commissioned, including inlaid fabric panels for a bed and dressing table.
We also helped design the kitchen banquette seating, advising the joinery manufacturers on how to create the back panels so that we could upholster the most exquisite curved, fluted back. Further, we helped specify the perfect seat composition to ensure the perfect combination of comfort and durability for years to come.
We re-upholstered all the home cinema seating units in a Linwood Omega dark red velvet to give a warm, rich and eclectic vibe.
From the moment we joined the curtains in Notting Hill project we were welcomed by the Bizaan team and given all the time and support we needed from Amie, her design team and tradespeople. Amie’s creativity, drive and enthusiam is incredible making it an absolute pleasure to work on this Notting Hill curtain project.
I’d love to hear all about your plans and your ideas so that together we can create something magical in your home.
