Channel 5 Dream Makeovers – or a complete nightmare : )

We were over the moon to be invited to make the curtains, blinds and soft furnishings for the recent Channel 5 Series Dream Home Makeovers with Sophie Robinson. I even had a minor walk-on part in the show, to my children’s horror!

BUT would everything arrive in time for when the director called ‘ACTION’?

A room with a view

At Leslie and John’s beautiful riverside home in Chiswick, West London our curtains had to work hard, but not too hard, to compete with the spectacular river views. We used light coloured linens from Romo with stunning braids and trims from Samuel & Sons hand sewn onto the leading edges, adding playful interest, whilst not detracting from the view.

For the windows without the river views and cushions we used fabrics from GP&J Baker, Carnival Collection to add a dramatic splash of colour.

A white knuckle ride with the tightest deadline and chaotic installation, definitely not for the faint-hearted

Probably the tightest time-lines we have ever worked to, nerve wracking but exciting. We had precisely 2 weeks to get everything measured, ordered, made and installed. It was all hands to the deck from suppliers, to our seamstresses and our fitters.

Fitting day was chaotic but exhilarating with the house bursting at the seams with tradespeople, producers and of course the undisputed colour queen Sophie Robinson, who was keeping everyone focussed on the job at hand.

It was absolutely incredible to see the house being transformed right in front of our eyes with an explosion of colour and surprise and such a privilege to be part of this Channel 5 Dream Makeover with Sophie Robinson.
